Travel Information

Note that these trains to Rouen depart from St Lazare station in Paris.

These are the non-stop trains from Paris to Rouen and their frequency has been increased on the new timetable, particularly at weekends.

There are also slower TER trains which complete the journey in around 1hr 35mins, but despite being slower they won't be cheaper (and can actually be more expensive if you'll be booking ahead).

Final Destination: Rouen or Le Havre

As can be seen there is a comparatively frequent service of these faster TER trains between Paris and Rouen, but there is not a departure in every hour, so it's worth looking up the departure times on a ticketing website, even if you don't want to book a ticket online.

Rouen is a comparatively easy day trip by train from Paris.

Though Rouen-Rive Droite station is some distance from the heart of the city- it's a 15-25 min walk to the cathedral, though an option is a one stop hop on the tram, to the stop named Palais Du Justice.

The faster TER trains:

Mon-Thurs: 12 x trains per day
Friday: 13 x trains
Saturday: 14 x trains
Sunday: 12 x trains

Tickets

Book early and save: Yes

Online bookings usually open: up to 6 months ahead of the travel date - but bookings can open sooner when SNCF is running a promotion.

Discounted tickets are made available for these journeys by these faster TER trains; which have in effect replaced the Intercités services on this journey.
On this route, those discounted tickets tend to still be available close to the departure date.

There are also some additional, slower TER trains, between Paris and Rouen.
However, if you'll be booking ahead, the discounted tickets for these faster trains can be cheaper,
Though if you will be booking last minute at the station, the journey will have the same price, regardless of which train you will be taking.

Rail pass users don't have to pay reservation fees on the TER trains between Paris and Rouen.

SNCF is the national rail operator in France and not so long ago it recently simplified both the range of tickets and the term and conditions of using them.
Therefore the cheapest tickets also become more flexible too.

Other improvements included a simple integration of travelling with bicycles and rail pass users being able to book reservations for national journeys, without paying booking fees.

And it also recently launched SNCF Connect as replacement for its Oui.SNCF booking service.
You can set up a low price alert to let you know when the cheapest price is available for a future journey.

Something else to look out for is that simplest way of travelling with tickets is to use the SNCF Connect App, as booked tickets can therefore be stored on your mobile device, which can then be shown to the train conductors as proof of purchase.

SNCF also operates RailEurope, which is in effect a dedicated online booking service for making bookings from outside of Europe.
If you reside outside of Europe you may discover that SNCF Connect rejects phone numbers or card numbers, but RailEurope won't do so.
Though RailEurope will add booking fees when making a purchase
