Trains departing at different times can be cheaper than others leaving on the same day, so you may need to look through the day's departures to find the cheapest fares.
Use the earlier/later buttons to search for the cheapest ticket prices.
Reservations are recommended for this journey - though if you book a 1st class ticket, it will include the reservation.
It's not a comparatively long journey, but the ICE trains that provide the service between Munchen and Nurnberg are some of the busiest in Germany.

The alternative high speed Regio Trains:
These ICE trains aren't the only direct trains between Munchen and Nurnberg.
Every other hour there is also a Regio train service, which uniquely for a Regio train, travels on a high speed line.
However, tickets for the Regio train cannot be booked online.
It is also slower with a journey time of around 1hr 45min - and tickets are also priced at €29, but it's worth considering if you'll be purchasing tickets at the station on the day you want to travel.
If you're booking last minute at the station it's likely that it will be cheaper than the ICE train.
