The recently refurbished main station serving the city of Wurzburg is an example of the functional style of 1950s Modernist architecture.
It comprises a light filled main building which houses the travel office, shops and food/drink outlets and other station facilities, plus a passage way under tracks which provides the access to and from the trains.
This passage way is linked to the platforms / bahnsteigs above by sets of stairs and lifts / elevators.
These are the typical train services which call at Wurzburg Hbf when the usual timetable is available; Though German rail timetables can often be disrupted by maintenance work.
The Nightjet trains to Amsterdam, Hamburg, Innsbruck and Wien call in Wurzburg after 01;00am.
Wurzburg Hauptbahnhof has a comparatively convenient location, the [**main square / Marktplatz **(https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ky7JysinvZcqffxg6) and cathedral are within a 10 to 20 min walk; or it's a short tram ride on lines / routes 1, 3 or 5 to the stop named 'Dom'.
The bus route / line 9 provides a station to cultural attractions connection..
It departs from a stop in the ZOB bus station, which on the other side of the stops used by regional bus routes / lines in front of the rail station exit.
It stops at the Residence Palace and the Marienberg Fortress.
Multiple types of bus / tram tickets are available including Day Tickets.
