There isn't a high speed railway between Verona and Bolzona, but the various types of express trains which use the route are inevitably faster because they make fewer station calls
Though as is typical, the faster a train, the more expensive it is likely to be; but the difference between journey times isn't particularly extreme on this route.
However, if you will be booking tickets last minute at the station, then taking the slower Regionale Veloce (RV) trains will be a money saver.
Though is a route on which it can pay off to look up the journey in advance.
The departure times of the RV trains tend to be irregular and the price difference with the express trains can be comparatively minor.
Final Destination: Bolzano or Brennero
If you're going to be booking tickets last minute at the station, then it's worth targeting these trains.
They're not much slower than the express Frecce and EC trains; and will be around 50% cheaper.
Regionale (R) trains: up to 15 x trains per day
Regionale Veloce (RV) trains: up to 8 x trains per day
Book early and save: No (not on these trains)
Tickets will cost the same price if purchased at the same station immediately before departure.
If you will be buying tickets at the station just before departure then these Regionale Veloce (RGV/RV) trains will be more than 50% cheaper than the Frecce or Eurocity trains
Rail pass users should target these trains and avoid the €10 rail pass reservation fees on the Frecce and Eurocity trains.

It can be worth looking up the train times on Trenitalia and then, if the timings suit, target the Regionale Veloce (RV) trains.
They're around 30 mins faster than the Regionale (R) trains, but will cost the same price.
Though as can be seen, the slower Regionale trains are twice as frequent.
This is an enchanting journey, for more than an hour the trains will travel through the Adige River valley, with the mountains rising up on both sides of the train.
Final Destination: Muenchen
We have singled out these EuroCity trains on this route from Verona to Bologna as they tend to be cheaper than the alternative express Frecce trains; and they're less than 4 mins slower because there is no high speed line between Verona and Bolzano.
If you can book ahead you can save €5 by targeting these trains in comparison to the slower Regionale Veloce/Regionale trains, so targeting these trains can save time and money.
Though Eurail and InterRail pass users should avoid these trains as they have comparatively expensive reservation fees - which only apply to users of these passes.
