The single deck IC trains operated by SBB are typically used for these journeys, but the trains which usually depart Bern at 13:04, 19:04 and 21:07 are ICE trains, which will have commenced their journeys in Germany.

All trains also call at: Thun and Spiez (connect for Fruitigen, Kandersteg and Zweisimmen) and Interlaken West
If your final destination is in central Interlaken, book tickets to and leave the train at Interlaken West; this station is much closer to the town centre.

The train which typically departs at 15:04 conveys an observation car, which can be accessed by first class ticket holders.
This is a journey that saves the best until last!
There are lovely views over Lake Thun from the left of the train, when facing the direction of travel, between Thun and Spiez stations.
