Some welcome news, the long term works which were being carried out on the railway route between Stockholm and Oslo have now concluded, so the service level has been more than doubled on the new timetable.
Plus the smart Snabbtag (X2000) trains are also back on the route.

Seats will automatically be assigned when booking tickets for this journey, but rail pass users will need to be pay a reservation fee prior to boarding.
Booking ahead for these trains is strongly recommended irrespective if you want to travel 1st or 2nd class; seats can sell out days ahead on the most popular departures.
Though works are being carried out on this railway line, so the service of direct trains can be suspended at weekends, though in those instances the SJ (Swedish national railways) website, will offer alternative journeys with a change of train.

These trains no longer call at Lillestrom station, so if you'll be heading from Oslo Gardermoen Airport to Sweden by train, you now have to make the connection between trains at Oslo S station.
For most of the journey the train passes through a love,ly, but not outstandingly beautiful landscape, but the highlight is the first 90 mins of the journey, between Oslo and Kongsvinger.
From the left of the morning departures (when facing the direction of travel) there are views over the river valley from the left of the train.
When the train crosses the border there are also sporadic views from the left and right over Swedish lakes.
(The video was captured on a train travelling in the opposite direction from Stockholm to Oslo).But a highlight of the journey occurs towards journey's end when the train will cross the Igelsta Bridge to the south of Stockholm.
