The length of the journey by train from Turin / Torino to Bari results in both day and night trains being an option.
Though the distance also results in a sparse, but useful, service of direct trains.
A high speed Frecciarossa train is now used on the Turin to Bari journey via Rimini, in place of what had been a Frecciabianca train.
This Frecciarossa train takes a different 'high speed' route between Turin and Bologna, via Torino Porta Susa station so this station now has a new direct connection with Bari.
This train is also usually scheduled to depart daily from Torino Porta Nuova station at 09:10 and Torino Porta Susa at 09:20.
Final Destinaton: Lecce
This train also calls at: Ancona and Pescara and Foggia
Connecting to the ferries to Greece in Bari:
This train is due to arrive in Bari at 17:25, so it has a tightly timed, but theoretically possible connection to the ferry to Patras, that usually departs from Bari at 19:30 on Mon-Saturday.
But before booking tickets for this journey it's worth confirming with the ferry company what the check-in arrangements for foot passengers, because if the two hour check-in procedure will be enforced, an overnight stay in Bari will be required.
The guide to using Bari Centrale station includes details of how to make the transfer to the ferry port, which is on the opposite side of the city centre to the train station.

*Save by booking in advance: Yes, for more details on how to obtain the cheapest prices for Frecce trains see the guide to Italian rail tickets.

This train is usually scheduled to depart daily from Torino Porta Nuova station at 09:10 and Torino Porta Susa at 09:20,. so either target those departure times, or look up a direct journey on Trenitalia

You will need to reserve prior to boarding these trains, either at the station (using a Trenitalia ticket machine or ticket desk) OR by booking them online.

This Frecciarossa train uses the high speed lines between Torino and and Bologna.
Then if you have a seat reservation on the on the left of the train (when facing the direction of travel) there are some fabulous views of the Adriatic Coast to be enjoyed south of Rimini.
Final Destination: Bari
These trains also call at: Casserta and Benevento
The trains on this route commence their journeys at Torino Porta Nuova station.
They depart from there around 10 mins before they depart from Torino Porta Susa.
If you will be commencing your journey on the Torino Metro, it can make sense to head to Porta Susa in order to take these trains.
The Metro calls at both Porta Nuova and Porta Susa stations.
Though whether you travel from Porta Susa or Porta Nuova stations makes no difference to the ticket price.

Tickets for the Frecce train are placed on sale around 4 months in advance, but the Italo train tickets are made available around 5 months ahead.
However, Trenitalia does not sell tickets for the Italo trains - and Italo does not sell tickets for the Trenitalia trains.
If you're booking no more than 4 months ahead and have no particular preference for the train that you will be taking, the price and departure times of the Frecce and Italo trains can be directly compared on Trainline or Omio, though look out for the fact that both of these services will charge a booking fee.
Eurail and InterRail passes can't be used on Italo trains.

Between Bologna and Foggia, these trains take a different route than that taken by the Frecce train, with a longer journey time; despite much more of the journey being on high-speed lines.
This is a journey of nine distinct phases.
The train will reverse direction on departure from Roma Termini.
The train will then spend around an hour travelling at up to 290 km/h on another high speed line.
For the final 3hr 20min the train will travel through the Apennines on a 'classic' non-high speed railway.
Final destination: Lecce
This train will be usually scheduled to depart at 20:50 and arrive in Bari at 08:10.
On Sundays the ferry to Patras (connect for Athina/Athens) will be typically scheduled to depart Bari at 13:30, so that 21:50 departure will allow time for a leisurely breakfast in Bari before heading to the port for the 11:30 check-in.
On Mondays to Saturdays an option is to deposit any bags etc in the left luggage office at Bari station, before heading over to the port in the late afternoon.
