Accessing St. Anton by train is typically an exceptionally easy and comfortable journey from Innsbruck, because St. Anton is the only resort town where the smart Railjet trains regularly call.
Final Destination: Bregenz or Zurich (or Munster in Germany)
Not all of the Railjet trains that head west at least once per hour from Innsbruck call at St.Anton, so it pays to look up the departures times on OBB , even if you want to buy tickets last minute at the station.
The Railjets are around faster 15 - 20 mins than the IC/EC trains.
8 x RJ trains per day
2 x IC/EC trains per day
Book early and save: Yes
Online bookings open: 6 months ahead of the travel date
Trains departing at different times can be cheaper than others leaving on the same day, so you may need to look through the day's departures to find the cheapest fares.
Take care when looking up these journeys online. Cut and paste the spelling of St.Anton on to the 'To' box on OBB's ticket booking service, it can't find St Anton or St. Anton.
Ticket Provider | Approximate Cost | |
---|---|---|
OBB | from €14 | |
Trainline | from €14 | |
Omio | from €14 | |
Happy rail | from €14 |
Listen out for the announcements, or keep an eye on the info screens on the train, because the approach to St.Anton station is in a tunnel, so you won't be aware of the train slowing down.
The highlight of this particular journey is the ascent up to the Arlberg Pass, after the train departs from Landeck.
But the most spectacular views of The Arlberg Pass can only be seen, in this direction, from trains once they have continued beyond St.Anton.
