Firenze / Florence to Assisi by train
Assisi is located off the main north to south railway route in Italy, so the town is served by comparatively few trains.
Hence it's a good idea to look up the departure times on the Trenitalia website, even if you will be buying tickets last minute at the station.
You won't need to book in advance to save money, so if you will be spending an extended period of time in beautiful Florence/Firenze and want to head off to Assisi on a day trip by train, you can choose a day when the weather will be fine, look up the timings of the train that evening and then head off to S.M.Novella station the next morning.
