Milano Rogoredo (Milano / Milan / Mailand)

This station on the very southern edge of Milano has convenient connections to the city centre.

ShowMeTheJourney has travelled through Milano Rogoredo station many times, but we have yet to use the station.

Metro

Milano Rogoredo station is around 3km from the city centre, but don't be put off by that.
The city's main station Milano Centrale doesn't live up to its name as it's not in the heart of Milano either.
And Rogoredo has one significant advantage over the Centrale station because it is served by frequent trains, generally five departures per hour, which use the Passante Ferroviario di Milano, which is a cross city tunnel used by Regionale trains.
Therefore these Regionale trains are faster than the Metro and within the tunnel they call at brightly lit stations, two of which, Porta Venezia and Republica, are closer to the heart of the city than Milano Centrale.
At Porta Venezia station a transfer is available to Metro line 1, but a connection with Line 1 is not available at Milano Centrale.
Transfers to line 3 are available at Republica and transfers to line 2 and line 5 are possible at Garibaldi station.
