Welcome to the summary of what's useful to know when travelling to Brugge/Bruges by train.
Despite it's comparatively large size Brugge station is blissfully simple to use, particularly for those who require mobility assistance.
A wide passage way links the entrance to all of the platforms used by the trains
This passage way houses all of the station facilities and retail outlets, the ticket office is at the end, just inside the main entrance.
As you walk ahead from the entrance, on the right hand side of the passage, escalators lead up to each set of platform while on the left hand side, there are stairs and a lift/elevator up to each set of platforms.
So when arriving by train, you can choose to use the escalators, stairs or lifts, they're all in the middle of the platform and all lead down to the passage beneath the trains.
For the city centre, taxis and buses, go left from the foot of the escalators and right from the foot of the stairs, or when you step out of the elevator.
When planning a trip, finding convenient accommodation can be trickier than working out which train to take.
Hence ShowMeTheJourney has partnered with the innovative accommodation portal, Stay 22, to offer three options for discovering your optimum accommodation:

Stay 22 will 'shuffle' the booking services so that you can be automatically directed to its partner that currently has the optimum availability at this location.
Brugge train station is to the south of the historic city centre, but all of the city's many attractions are within a 25 min walk.
If you want to head to the city centre from the station, the best alternative to heading off on foot is to take the free shuttle bus which departs every 5 minutes and takes a one-way loop around the city - Though note that it leaves from a stop to the right of the bus station, which is in front of the train station exit.
It's stop named Wollestraat is right by the Grote Markt.
The shuttle bus has a flat fare of €3, but it is free to those aged 65 and over.
Regular bus routes/lines 1 and 2 connect the station to the stop named Dijver which is to the south of the Grote Markt.
A great reason for extending a stay in beautiful Brugge is to use the city as a base for exploring Flanders by train.
Bruges/Brugge has particularly good access to the Belgian coast, there are 2-3 x trains per hour from the city to Oostende and hourly trains to the coastal resorts of Blankenberge and Knokke, the journey time to all three towns is under 25 miins.
Blankenberge, Knokke, Oostende and towns south of Oostende including Middelkerke, Nieuwpoort and De Panne are all linked every 15 mins by The Belgian Coastal Tramway
The train stations at Blankenberge, Knokke and Oostende are all adjacent to Coastal tram stops.
The most picturesque town on the coast, De Hann, has easy access from Brugge via Oostende and the tram.
