Travel guide:

These trains operated by Grand Central share the East Coast Mainline between King's Cross station and both Yorkshire and North-East England with trains operated by LNER - though aside from York, these Grand Central trains serve different destinations to those LNER services.

These Adelante trains are comfortable long-distance express trains, but one noticeable difference with the LNER 225 and the LNER Azuma trains, which comprise most of the other trains on the London to York route, is that these trains are powered by diesel-engines.
And the engines are located beneath the floor that the seats are attached to, so travelling buy these trains is comparatively noisy.

Routes:

Grand Central provides the only direct train services between London and a swathe of towns and cities in Yorkshire and North-East England:

(1) London (King's Cross) - York - Northallerton - Eaglesliffe - Hartlepool - Sunderland
(2) London (King's Cross) - Pontefract - Wakefield Kirkgate - Mirfield - Brighouse - Halifax - Bradford Interchange

Catering:

A bar service offering hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks is available to both Standard Class and First class travellers .

A catering attendant will also serve First Class travellers at their seats with complimentary drinks and snacks, and paid for items can also be ordered from the bar menu - and these will be delivered to passengers in First Class.

WiFi:

Complimentary Wi-Fi is offered throughout the train, although a benefit of First Class travel should be access to faster connectivity and download speeds.

Luggage:

The luggage space on these trains is comparatively generous and each passenger is permitted to take up to three items on board.
More information is available here.

Bicycles:

Up to three non-folding bicycles can be conveyed on each departure, two of these spaces can be reserved in advance at no additional charge by calling 0345 603 4852 (Option 5).

The other space is available for last-minute boarding, but ShowMeTheJourney strongly recommends making a reservation, as there can be gaps of more than three hours between departures on the routes taken by Grand Central trains.

Assisted Travel:

All of these trains have wheelchair spaces and wheelchair accessible toilets.
Any assisted travel requirements can be arranged using the information available here.
