Multiple Nightjet Cancellations Due To Construction Work

On multiple dates in 2025 Nightjet overnight trains won't be able to operate on multiple routes, Brussels, Paris and Rome are among the affected locations.

Nightjet trains provide the majority of overnight train services across western Europe.
The long international routes taken by the Nightjet trains are inevitably susceptible to being impacted by construction work though this more typically causes the trains to be diverted on to lengthier, alternative routes.
However, diversions such as these require a new temporary timetable and the drivers and train crew need time to make the adjustment - Train drivers can't take trains full of travellers along routes that they haven't driven before.

So without months of preparation, Nightjet is unable to make the necessary adjustments, which results in a temporary suspension of service - and in recent months there seems to be a trend of Nightjet not being given sufficient advance notice
Also there may not be a viable alternative route, as the number of European international routes available to long-distance trains is comparatively small.

Current and future temporary service alterations

Unfortunately due to a series of unconnected major construction projects in Austria, Belgium, France and Germany, multiple Nightjet routes are having to be suspended for varying lengths of time during Spring / Summer 2025:
Alternative connections by daytime trains are available on all routes:
