Exterior of a Regiojet train

Regiojet has evidently opted to take its own unique approach to its long distance train services, and in addition to the  complimentary Wi-Fi portal being available throughout the train - the more unusual aspects of its on board experiences can be summarised as:

(1) The trains do not have bar/bistro counters or cars, instead refreshments (hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches, salads) are available from a catering trolley which will be pushed some of the coaches on the train.

Some coaches are also equipped with a coffee machine

(2) Some seats have seat-back entertainment screens similar to those fitted to long-haul airlines, for a personalised entertainment experience.

(3) Regiojet offers four levels of on board service per train:

Low Cost - The catering service isn't available, only open plan seating is provided, the seats aren't adjustable and there are no power sockets.

You can only take non-folding bikes on board Regiojet's express trains if you book these 'low cost' tickets and reserve a space for your bike, in the racks provided, prior to boarding.

Standard OR Standard Astra - As far as we can tell the trains either have 'Standard Class' OR 'Standard Astra' coaches.

The 'Standard Astra' coaches have the complimentary 'airline style' seat back entertainment facilities - whether this service is available on a particular departure will be indicated when you book a ticket.

Even when 'Standard Astra' is available, you can opt to sit in a compartment as an alternative to the open plan seating saloons - plus Quiet and Children's compartments are also available.

Whether you will or won't be travelling 'Standard Astra', you will be travelling in a leather trimmed seat and will receive a complimentary bottle of water, plus a free drink from catering trolley.

You will also have access to USB and power sockets.

Relax - In 'Relax' class you will also be travelling in a leather trimmed seat and will receive a complimentary bottle of water, plus a free drink from catering trolley - but the key step-up from standard class is how the seating is arranged.

In 'Relax' class the seats are larger and are arranged 2 + 1 across the coach, instead of 2 + 2, though compartment seats are not available, so you will be sitting in an open plan saloon.

You will also have access to USB and power sockets.

All seats also have tables, seats at tables aren't available in Standard Class,

However, the 'Astra' seat-back entertainment service is not available in 'Relax' Class.

Business - Book a 'Business Class' ticket and you will be sitting in the same more spacious, adjustable leather trimmed seats as used in Business Class, but your seat will be in a 4-seat compartment.

You will also receive a wider choice of complimentary items.

What can be a tad confusing is that when you initially click on the 'Service on Board Our Trains; link on the Regiojet website, the page you will be taken to is describing the 'Business Class' service.
