Chiltern Railways (Mark 3)

Chiltern Railways operates two types of train on its London <> Birmingham route, these loco-hauled trains and its regular Clubman trains.

These loco-hauled trains use modernised Mark 3 coaches, which have been the primary coaches used on long-distance British express trains for more than  40 years.

Chiltern Railways has been comparatively generous with how it has fitted out these trains, they're comparatively comfortable, even in Standard Class.

Though note that no on-board catering is available.

Chiltern Railways offers a 'Silver Service' on selected departures on the London <> Birmingham route and it usually uses these trains that comprise the Mark 3 coaches for those services.

In effect Silver Service means that a 'Business Zone' will be available on the train, and in this coach, the seats are wider, they're all arranged at tables, and they all have access to power sockets.
Complimentary drinks are offered and a higher Wi-Fi download speed is also part of the service.
Chiltern doesn't use First Class to designate a higher standard of service, because Standard Class ticket holders can pay supplements to access the seats in this 'Business Zone'.

Non-folding bikes can be usually be taken on board these trains, but they are not permitted on departures from London between 16-30 and 19:30, and on arrivals into London between 07:45 and 10:00
