The resorts of Solden and Obergurgl are closer to Innsbruck than Salzburg, but if you will be flying in for a winter sports holiday, a plus of taking the train from Salzburg, is that it's airport has a trolleybus connection with the rail station.
So the end-to-end airport to resort transfer is a straightforward bus + train + train journey.
Final Destination: Bregenz or Zurich
All trains also call at: Innsbruck
6 x trains per day
Book early and save: Yes
Online bookings open: 6 months ahead of the travel date
The discounted tickets are the 'Sparscheine' tickets and they can be booked online up until the day of departure, but they can't be booked at stations, so booking last minute at the station is always more expensive.
Though you'll usually need to book the 'Sparscheine' tickets at least a couple of days ahead to obtain them at the cheapest possible price.
Trains departing at different times can also be cheaper than others leaving on the same day, so you may need to look through the day's departures to find the cheapest fares.

There are up to 2 x buses per hour (mostly on route/line 8352) and the bus journey takes around 1hr 5mins; it will be longer if you're heading on to Obergurgl.
Tickets for the end-2-end journey from Salzburg to Sölden including the train + bus can be purchased on the OBB train ticket booking site.
