The railway used to cross the beautiful centre of Delft on a viaduct, but the locals believed it spoiled the look of the city - plus it also restricted the number of trains which could travel along it.
Hence in 2015 a brand new station opened its doors, providing access to sporen / platforms located in a tunnel built to replace the viaduct.
Step-free access is available between the ticket hall, which is at street level, and the trains.
Head out of the station at its opposite end to the mezzanine lobby, which gives access to the trains, there will be a straight canal to the right. so cross it by the first bridge you come to.
Turn left on to the long street beside the canal, which is named, Westvest.
The first street with a canal heading off to the right, which is named Binnenwatersloot, is the route into central Delft and its main square.
The Royal Delft Museum is located a 10 to 20 min walk from Delft rail station.
The alternative to reaching it on foot is to take bus line / route 40 which leaves around every 30 mins from the bus station beside the rail station.
The bus stop by the museum is named, Jaffalaan
