About the station

Malaga Maria Zambrano station, named after the writer is in effect three stations in one.

1: The mainline station at street level, which is used by the express and Media-Distancia trains to/from Malaga

2: The lower level station used by the local ‘Cercanias’ trains

3: The Metro station, which is named ‘El Perchel’.

The building which houses the station also contains a fairly large shopping mall.

When you enter the building from its most obvious street entrance, by the taxi ranks and pedestrian street crossings, the access to/from the Cercanias trains will be ahead of you.

From here you need to turn to the right and then left to access the vias (tracks/platforms) that the mainline trains use.

Though if you arrive by taxi, use the entrance to the station which will be to the right – behind the old station building on the traffic island, which is now a post office.

From this entrance the vias (tracks/platforms) that the mainline trains use will be directly ahead of you – at the back of the building.

The ticket office is over to the left and its divided into two parts;

(i) The AVE ticket desk for advance reservations on the AVE and other larga-distancia express trains

(ii) The main ticketing lounge where you take a take number from the machine and then go to the ticket desk when your number is called.

The left luggage office, the 'Cosignia' is by the entrance to the Cercanias station.

The Sala Club 1st class lounge is on the level above the main concourse - access is by elevator on the right hand side of the concourse, as you face the trains.
