A landslide has blocked the France <> Italy route via Modane
Train services will seemingly be impacted until summer 2024!

Due to obstacles on the track (falling rocks), traffic is interrupted in both directions between Modane and St-Michel-Valloire for several days or even weeks.
This route is taken by the TGV and Frecce trains on the Paris - Lyon ↔ Torino - Milano route and by TER trains on the Lyon ↔ Modane route.
All trains which usually take this route are therefore cancelled until further notice, current reports suggest the line will not reopen until summer 2024.
Tickets agents are offering alternative Paris ↔ Milano journeys, which involve connecting in Geneve, Lausanne or Zurich while Paris ↔ Torino journeys involve connections in both Milano and Zurich.
Though a bus replacement service has been arranged for the part of the journey between Saint-Jean de Maurienne and Oulx.
When looking up the journey on SNCF Connect most of the Paris ↔ Milano journeys and Paris ↔ Torino journeys are routed via Switzerland, but the daily departure from Paris at 14:48 / 2:48pm connects into the replacement bus service.
In the opposite direction, the train which connects into the replacement bus service, departs Milano Porta Garibaldi at 14:10; and from Torino Porta Susa at 15:41, with an arrival into Paris at 23:14.
On the Lyon ↔ Modane route, the journey involves a bus replacement on a route through Grenoble.
