The long-distance trains heading south typically use binari 2, while those heading north arrive at and depart from binari 3.
These binario 2 and 3 are an island platform that's connected to the main station building by a passage way under the railway tracks.
It has been equipped with lifts / elevators as an alternative to the stairs, but reports suggest that they can be unreliable.
Though an alternative maybe available, as a new passage way has been opened under the tracks, which links the binario 2 and 3 to the part of the station used by the Ftm trains.
This passage way has been equipped with elevators; the Ftm station is at the northern end of the main station's binario 1.
When heading to binario 2 and 3 from the main station confirm with the station staff whether this step-free route is available if need be, but it will a longer route to, and from, the long-distance trains.

The following long-distance train services typically depart from Trento:
- to Verona - Bologna - Firenze / Florence - Roma = 6 x Frecce trains per day; 1 x train continues to Napoli and 1 x train continues to Napoli - Sibari
- to Verona - Bologna - Firenze / Florence - Roma = 1 x Italo train per day
- to Verona - Bologna - Rimini - Ancona - Pescara - Foggia - Bari = 1 x IC train per day
- to Verona - Bologna - Rimini - Ancona = 1 x Railjet train per day
- to Verona - Bologna = 2 x Railjet trains per day
- to Verona - Vicenza - Padova - Venezia / Venice = 2 x Railjet trains per day
- to Verona - Peschiera del Garda - Brescia - Milano = 1 x Frecce train per day; usually departs at 08:45
- to Verona = Regionale Veloce trains every other hour; Afternoon / evening departures continue on to Bologna
- to Innsbruck - Worgl - Kufstein - Munchen / Munich = 5 x Railjet trains per day
Travelling on to resort towns
The station in Trento is conveniently located for the city centre, the Duomo / cathedral is within an 8 to 15 min flat walk.
Trento is also an interchange when heading to and from multiple resort towns and villages in The Dolomites and beyond.
Trains operated by Ftn use a dedicated area within Trento station and go from and to multiple towns and villages including Borgo Valsugana, Cles, Malé, Mezzana, Pergine Valsugana
The regional bus services from and to Trento use the bus station which is a 3 min walk from the rail station - turn to the right on exiting from the frontage of the rail station and walk by the San Lorenzo.
The 'extra-urban' routes / lines which use the bus station include:
- 101 to Cavalese and Canazei and Moena
- 102, 103 to Cavalese
- 201 to Comano Terme and Tione
- 204, 205, 301 to Riva del Garda
- 231 to Madonna di Campiglio
- 401 to Levico Terme
