Bolzano / Bozen station has a dual function, as it is inevitably a gateway to the city it serves, but is also a connection hub for the resorts on the western side of the South Tyrol.

The station is very conveniently located for the city centre, the Piazza Duomo is within a 10 min walk, on the other side of the tree lined street named Viale della Stazione - which lives up to its name, as it leads off opposite the main station hall.

In the station the binario / platform 1 is beside the main station buildings which house the station facilities, including the ticket desks and the bar / cafe.
Binario 1 is typically used by trains heading to Verona and beyond from destinations to the north.

Binari 3 to 6 are on island platforms which are linked to platform 1 by passage under the railway lines which can be accessed by both stairs and lifts / elevators.

Binario 3 and 4 are typically used by trains heading north towards Brennero and Innsbruck
Binario 5 and 6 are typically used by the long-distance express trains which commence their journeys in Bolzano and head to destinations to the south of Verona, including Roma and Bari
