If you have a rail pass then this is how to travel from Berlin to northern Italy by train during the day, end-to-end, this a journey which should showcase international train travel at it's best.

We doubt that many people will want to travel this way - if you have a rail pass it's highly likely that you will to spend more time in the likes of Munich or Verona.

But if you set off from Berlin on the 08:30 train to Munchen, and make the two connections of around 40 mins each between trains at Munchen Hbf and Verona Porta Nuova stations, you should be in Milano before 21:00.

Though this routing is a bit of a gamble as neither connection is absolutely guaranteed.
