CD Night (Canopus)

All that's good to know about the trains used on the new EuroNight route which links Praha/Prague and Decin with south-west Germany and Switzerland.

If you will be taking a journey by the newly introduced 'Canopus' train service our guide will tell you all you need to know, from boarding, to making the most of the journey experience.

The Canopus service uses CD Night trains operated by the Czech national rail operator.
CD Night trains convey 2nd class seats (a seated coach is pictured at the top of the page), couchettes and two types of sleeping cabin, Economy and Deluxe, with the key difference between them being that the Deluxe cabins house a shower cubicle, sink and toilet, but the Economy cabins house only a sink with toilets and showers available at the end of each coach.

Both types of cabin can be booked for single use (1 person) or for double (2 person) and and triple (3 person) use.
The Deluxe and Economy cabins have three beds arranged bunk style, but when booked for single use two of the beds will be folded away; and when booked for double use, the top bunk will be folded out of use.

When travelling alone its possible to opt to travel in a 1 person, 2 person or 3 person cabin.
When two people* are travelling together its possible to opt for a 2 person or 3 person cabin
*= The 2 and 3 person cabins are segregated into male and female only unless a male/female couple share a booking and in this instance a 2 person cabin for sole use by the couple will be automatically offered.
When a mixed sex family group of 3 people book together, they will automatically be offered a 3 person cabin.
